The Corsair82: 82% F4U-1A Corsair

About Tony Pileggi

After graduating from Virginia Military Institute in 1978, I was lucky enough to serve my country flying F-4 Phantom IIs in the United States Air Force. Following my tour of duty I flew for various airlines. I've flown as a Pilot, Navigator and Flight Engineer. In 1999 I moved from Flight Engineer to First Officer on the Boeing 727, then to First Officer on the Air Bus 320. (Needless to say, the schools didn't leave much time to work on the Corsair.) Having retired from the Air Force reserves in 2001, I'm currently a First Officer on the Boeing 767.

I started designing and building this Corsair because I wanted one. But the response has been so overwhelming I am considering offering a kit. However, I'm not accepting any money. I won't make the decision on whether to offer a kit until the protype is flying. And I don't want there to be any pressure to cut corners or produce before it's ready.
